Cindy Dorton – Executive Director for Preston Place Community

Cindy has spent her career caring for the elders of our community in both nursing homes and assisted living facilities for over 27 years. She has experience in every avenue related to geriatric living and is the Executive Director for Preston Place Community and has been working for Preston Place since the doors opened in 1998.

Several years ago, Cindy saw a need for our residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia who needed more care than typical assisted living. Cindy designed the region’s only free-standing, secured, Alzheimer’s facility, Preston Place II. Cindy was instrumental in designing everything from the floor plan to the lighting to even the dishes used for meals. As resident needs have changed, Cindy has literally built an additional facility to meet those needs. Cindy’s own mom and dad lived as residents at Preston Place, so she can attest to the value of the care received by all who call Preston Place their home.

She also created the idea of our new Alzheimer’s Community Resource Center, which is a 503-c nonprofit that recently opened, offering free resources to anyone in the community needing assistance in caring for a loved one. When Cindy is not working or brainstorming our next avenue for growth, she enjoys time with her family, especially watching football.
